Rule N°1: Swimming Skills Are Mandatory
To join any of our whitewater or canyoning trips, every participant must know how to swim and be comfortable putting their head underwater.
- From 6 Years Old: The "Discovery" Rafting Trip. A gentle river section providing fun water sensations, perfectly timed so young adventurers never get cold.
- From 7 Years Old: The Tusset Aqua Trekking Tour. A sun-drenched route featuring mild rapids and multiple optional cliff jumps.
- Our Premium Gear: We provide full 5 mm neoprene wetsuits tailored specifically for children's sizes, high-buoyancy life jackets, and dedicated safety helmets to protect those precious "little brains."
Top 3 Family Activities at Buena Vista Rafting
1. Discovery Rafting (Ages 6–7+)
- Why kids love it: The whole family sits together in the same boat! The river guide shares fascinating local stories, tells plenty of jokes, and kids can jump into the river for a swim whenever they like.
- The Route: Perfectly balanced—not too short, not too long. You will spend about 1.5 hours on the water, starting from our base in Castellane and paddling down to the lovely beach at Chasteuil.
2. Tusset Bridge Aqua Trekking: Magical "Floating" (Ages 7+)
- Why it’s fantastic: No paddling required! You simply float downstream on your back, looking up at the sky and the soaring limestone cliffs. It is our most playful and scenic activity. Kids absolutely love executing the successive rock jumps—but remember, all jumps are completely optional.
- The Route: A gorgeous, sunny introduction to the river environment.
3. Beginner Canyoning in the Haut Jabron (Ages 8+)
- Why they will enjoy it: Natural rock slides, fun little jumps, and a thrilling sense of exploration. Children can challenge themselves by climbing a little higher, but only if they truly feel up to it.

Expert Tips for a Flawless Family Outing
- The Best Timing: Opt for our morning slots. The river is usually calmer, and the temperatures are pleasant. Keep in mind that your meeting time is not the time you enter the water—we take the necessary time to gear everyone up properly, give a safety briefing, and drive to the starting point in our minibuses.
- What to Pack: Bring a swimsuit and a sturdy pair of closed-toe sneakers that can go into the water. Please avoid thin water shoes or aqua socks, as they do not provide enough foot protection on river rocks. A bottle of fresh water is also recommended, especially in mid-summer.
- Enjoying Our Base After the Activity: Our welcoming base in Castellane is equipped with group changing rooms, toilets, and an outdoor solar shower. We also have a cozy relaxation area where you can settle down and enjoy a family afternoon snack.
